Spring
aahhh the
snow is falling, the
winter is still hanging on but it sure would be nice to go out trout fishing. Well in Hawgwild Country, Banff that is,
you can! Early season angling starts
during the warm chinook winds of January and February.
It's still ski season then and none too warm. The river is frozen
along the sides with the main channel mostly running clear. Sometimes there
is some snow but access to some great fishing holes is quite easy. What a delight
it is to see the sparkling, gurgling beautiful Bow River again.
The warms days of March days really kicks off the bite
and it's a
pleasure to fish the gin clear Bow River. We're
starting at the crack of 10am and leisurely fishing into the warm afternoon sun.
Some of the really big fish can fall early in the season as there have not been
many lines in the water and the fish are thinking "it's even too early for Big
Jim to be out". So if you are a keen angler and don't mind a bit of powder
and spring skiing and
like to catch big fish, then maybe a
spring ski/fishing
holiday might
be in store for you.
The Hawgwild Spring Fishing Special is the half day rate for the full day of fishing. February, March and April are great months to hunt up some big Hawgs and to sample the outstanding skiing in the Canadian Rockies. Since I'm a reasonable fellow, in a row or staggered multiple day fishing trips would receive my best rate. Low season rates are in effect at many Hotels and Lodges.
The famous Hawgwild company "No Skunk Policy" is in effect and guarantees that our clients hook fish or they just don't pay.
Fall
the kids are in school, things
aren't as busy, seasons a changing, the larch and popular trees burst into their
colours and the fish are biting.
Hawgwild's Fall Fishing Bonaza Special starts October 01 and goes until November or the end of the season, weather dependant, which ever is first.. The Half day rate for the full day fish is our special. The no skunk policy is in play and expect to hook into a couple of big ones as the bite is on prior to the coming winter cold snap.
October can be a great time to visit Banff's Canadian Rockies and do a little bit fishing and autumn site seeing. Not many anglers on the river and water in the Bow is a bit lower concentrating the fish into greater schools. Dry fly season has just about come to an end but streamers and woolly buggers are angling just fine. Spin fishing can be hot too!! Look out for a big take on one of my hand tied clauser minnows from my collection of many, many flies.
Flights are often on sale at this time of year and low season rates are in effect at many Hotels and Lodges. Let's go Fishing!!
